process process

Starting to think about tones not just as a literal what-looks-darker problem but as an organizational/shape design issue, much like... everything else is, I guess?

This has brought up a problem with my early process in comics: I thumb the heck outta inks and layouts, but generally don't think about tones until everything else is done. This means that I often end up with cruddy shapes when broken down into tones, even if things look decent in b&w. Next up: trying to figure out how to address/ check this earlier on.
