Swing and a miss!

Wanted to do a fauvism exercise, ended up somewhere in post/impressionism.

+ : Really interesting to work with a prismatic palette! Great exercise for applying an organizational scheme to the colors you’re seeing and force everything super saturated. Some good incorporation of greens in flesh tones, which I normally don’t see.

- : Things got muddy through laziness/ failure to clean brushes; need to vary that dark last plane more so it’s not just dabs of blue in all the darkest places and creases; should’ve gotten more yellows and oranges in, since his complexion isn’t really that pink.

Very sad for this summer’s classes to end! Al Gury’s headed back to his regular job as head of the painting department at PAFA. It was great to study with him for a while, though, and I’d highly recommend it.
